Rule 4123-3-29 | Informing the claimant of the right to representation and status of the claim.

 

(A) Whether a claimant is or is not represented in an industrial claim is a matter of the claimant's free choice. No employee of the bureau or of a self-insuring employer shall directly or indirectly convey any information in derogation of this right.

(B) Upon receipt of a claim, the bureau shall notify the claimant and the employer of the number assigned to the claim and inform the claimant of his or her right to representation or to elect no representation in the processing of the claim. It is the responsibility of the bureau to aid and assist a claimant in the filing of a claim as provided in division (A) of section 4123.511 of the Revised Code.

(C) Upon request, the bureau shall inform the claimant of the status of the claim and of any action necessary to maintain the claim.
